What is Agentforce?
Agentforce is Salesforce's autonomous AI agent platform, launched in October 2024. It enables companies to build, deploy, and manage AI agents that reason, plan, and take action across Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, and Data Cloud — without requiring human intervention for routine tasks.
Unlike traditional Salesforce automation (Flows, Process Builder), Agentforce agents use the Atlas Reasoning Engine — a hybrid AI layer that classifies intent, selects actions, executes tasks, and reflects on outcomes. Agents are configured using Topics (what the agent handles), Actions (what it can do), and Instructions (how it should behave).
Enterprise security is handled by the Einstein Trust Layer, which ensures zero data retention for LLM calls, prevents prompt injection, masks PII, and maintains a full audit log of every agent action — making Agentforce suitable for regulated industries including financial services and healthcare.
As of 2025, Agentforce is licensed per conversation at approximately $2/conversation, with volume discounts available. Agentforce 3 added native MCP (Model Context Protocol) support, enabling agents to connect directly to Google Cloud, Stripe, PayPal, and other external platforms.
